MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Dr Muhammad Najeeb Khan on Wednesday visited the Kashmiri Baithak established at Neelum Ground in Muzaffarabad to review efforts aimed at preserving the region\u2019s history, cultural heritage and traditions and highlighting the Kashmir freedom movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Tariq Farooq accompanied the president during the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Najeeb Khan inspected various galleries at the Kashmiri Baithak and took a keen interest in the historical and cultural material showcasing the history, civilisation, traditions and freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president was given a detailed briefing on the objectives of the facility, the material displayed in its galleries and initiatives to promote awareness of Kashmir\u2019s history, cultural identity and freedom movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was briefed on the Kashmir History and Culture Gallery, Traditional Kashmiri Lifestyle Gallery, Kashmir Freedom Movement Gallery and Historical Events Gallery. These galleries highlight the historical background of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, its rich cultural heritage, traditional way of life and various aspects of the Kashmiri people\u2019s struggle for freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials informed the president that the primary objective of establishing the Kashmiri Baithak was to preserve the region\u2019s history, cultural identity and traditions, familiarise younger generations with their heritage, and effectively highlight different dimensions of the Kashmir freedom movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Dr Najeeb Khan described the Kashmiri Baithak as an important initiative for protecting the region\u2019s historical and cultural identity and promoting awareness of the freedom movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said preserving national history, culture and traditions was a collective responsibility, stressing that such centres should be effectively utilised to educate young people about the history and cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and the Kashmiri people\u2019s struggle for freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president emphasised the need to document and preserve the history, cultural heritage and ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
