{"id":1158,"date":"2021-09-30T11:30:45","date_gmt":"2021-09-30T11:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/?p=1158"},"modified":"2021-09-30T11:39:50","modified_gmt":"2021-09-30T11:39:50","slug":"china-sends-humanitarian-aid-to-afghanistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asiafreepress.com\/en\/asia\/china\/china-sends-humanitarian-aid-to-afghanistan\/","title":{"rendered":"China sends humanitarian aid to Afghanistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Beijing\u2019s envoy to Kabul says aid includes warm materials, blankets, cotton clothes<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>ANKARA, Sep 30 (AA): The first batch of humanitarian aid by China landed in Afghanistan on Wednesday night, an official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHanded over the first batch of aid mainly including warm materials such as blankets and cotton clothes,\u201d Wang Yu, China\u2019s ambassador to Afghanistan, said on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Khalil Haqqani, Afghanistan\u2019s acting minister of refugees, received the aid at Kabul airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe assistance shows deep love and friendship of Chinese people to Afghan people and reflects China\u2019s role as a major country that keeps its promises and is kind to its neighbors, which is a great move to build a community with a shared future for mankind,\u201d Wang added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>China earlier this month had promised $31million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan which saw an end to the war with the exit of all foreign forces in August after the Taliban regained control of the war-torn country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beijing will focus on the winter needs of the Afghan people and will include food grain, vaccine stocks, and medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan comes at a time when the UN has warned of a major humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The world body held a major fundraising conference in Geneva on Sept. 13 where over $1billion in funds were promised by various countries to help the Afghan people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beijing has emerged as a top critique of the US and accused it of being the &#8220;culprit of the Afghan issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfghanistan is an independent sovereign state. The US should respect Afghanistan\u2019s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
