TTP commander Saifullah was involved in killing of 4 NGO workers in February 2021
ISLAMABAD, September,20 (Asia Free Press): Pakistan army on Monday said security forces have killed a key terrorist commander in operation against militants in North Waziristan near Afghanistan border.
“During the IBO [intelligence based operation], TTP terrorist commander Safiullah was killed. Terrorist Safiullah belonged to Mir Ali and was involved in killing of 4 women of an NGO in February 2021 and target killing of FWO engineers in November 2020,” said Pakistan army media-wing ISPR in a statement.
The terrorist commander was also involved in planning and execution of improvised explosive device attacks on Security Forces, extortion and kidnapping for ransom. its added.
During the operation security Forces also recovered huge cache of weapons and ammunition during the operation.
Last week, five terrorist were killed in operation in South Waziristan while seven soldier also embraced shahadat during clashes with militants.
North and South Waziristan, were once hub of militants where the army has conducted a series of operations since 2014 to eliminate the TTP.
The areas were cleared and most terrorist fled away to Afghanistan, where they established hideouts in Paktia, Paktika, Kunar, Nangarhar and Nuristan provinces and carrying out attacks against Pakistani forces in the border areas.
According to Pakistani officials, Indian intelligence agency RAW and former Afghan government spy agency NDS, had regrouped the militants who fled away from Pakistan former tribal areas and helped them to reorganise in Afghanistan.
RAW, NDS also were supported the Pakistani militants groups including TTP, BLA and others to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
During past 15 years, these terrorist groups killed over 80,000 civilians including women and children and Pakistani soldiers in hundreds attacks.
While the militancy also caused over $150 billion lost to Pakistan’s economy.
