SRINAGAR, Dec 30 (Asia Free Press): In Indian administered Jammu & Kashmir, six youth were killed in two separate military operations in Anantnag district of south Kashmir in the last 12 hours, Jammu and Kashmir police said on Thursday.

Inspector-General of Police for Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that six armed rebels were killed in two separate military operations – one in Kulgam and another in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

“Four among the six killed armed rebels have been identified so far while the identification of other two is being ascertained,” the IGP said.

The police officer in a tweet said, “6 armed fighters were killed in two separate encounters. 4 among the killed militants have been identified so far. Identification of other 02 militants is being ascertained”.

In Kulgam’s Mirhama area, police earlier said that three armed fighters were killed and their identification was being ascertained.

While in the Dooru Shahabad area of Anantnag, an equal number of armed fighters were killed taking the toll of the slain to six in the two separate operations.

In Anantnag, during the initial exchange of fire, three Indian armed forces personnel were injured, who were shifted to hospital for treatment. The injured personnel were identified as Rohit Yadav and Ishant of 19 Rashtriya Rifles and a policeman Deepak Kumar.

Since October 1, this year, Indian occupying forces killed at least 60 people in “extra-judicial” killings in the valley.

The Indian forces have killed over 100,000 innocent people since in the the only Muslim majority region since 1990.
