Türkiye’s budget deficit grows to $5.45B in October

Türkiye’s central government budget ran a 186.3 billion lira ($5.45 billion) deficit in October, according to official data released on Thursday.

The figure rose from a deficit of 100.5 billion liras ($2.95 billion) in September, a Treasury and Finance Ministry report said.

In October, budget revenues amounted to 769.2 billion liras ($22.50 billion), while expenditures hit 955.5 billion liras ($27.95 billion).

Non-interest expenditures reached 819.3 billion liras ($23.9 billion), with interest payments totaling 136.2 billion liras ($4 billion).

The report showed that tax revenues came in at 643.6 billion liras ($18.8 billion).

Cumulative figures

In January-October, the budget balance showed a deficit of 1.3 billion liras ($38.8 billion). During this period, budget revenues reached 6.9 trillion liras ($211.1 billion), while expenditures amounted to 8.1 trillion liras ($250 billion).

The US dollar traded at an average of 34.20 liras in October and 32.46 liras on average during the January-October period.
