Pakistan President Dr Arif Alvi met his Iranian counterpart Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, on the sidelines of the 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Ashgabat.

Ashgabat, Nov 28 (Asia Free Press): Pakistan President Dr Arif Alvi Sunday highlighted the importance of regular convening of bilateral mechanisms between Pakistan and Iran for trade and economy, also emphasising the utilisation of barter trade mechanism, according to media reports.

The bilateral ties were discussed in a meeting between Pakistan President Dr Arif Alvi and his Iranian counterpart Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, on the sidelines of the 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Ashgabat reported state-run Associated Press of Pakistan.

President Alvi congratulated President Raisi on entering the presidency of Iran following his recent election victory.

He emphasised Pakistan’s regard for Iran as a significant Muslim neighbour and brother, based on the two nations’ extensive historical, linguistic, religious, and cultural ties.

The two presidents expressed satisfaction with the frequent high-level interactions that had consolidated several channels of bilateral cooperation.

President Alvi emphasised that Pakistan’s top objective is shifting the geoeconomic prosperity and regional connectivity agendas.

He expressed delight with the recent operationalisation of TIR shipments from Pakistan to Turkey and Azerbaijan, which he said will benefit the entire ECO region.

President Alvi expressed gratitude to Iran for its unwavering support for the Kashmir struggle, especially from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

On the regional situation, President Alvi emphasised the growing convergence of views among neighbouring nations, notably in the context of Afghanistan.

He emphasised the importance of a concerted effort to accomplish the shared goal of a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan.

He emphasised the critical need for immediate humanitarian and economic help to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people. He emphasised the importance of unfreezing Afghanistan’s financial assets in this regard.

President Arif Alvi invited President Raisi to visit Pakistan bilaterally at his earliest convenience.

The two leaders committed to maintaining contact on all matters of mutual concern.
