BEIJING, Oct 5 (Asia Free Press): China on Tuesday warned the United States to stop its support to the separatist forces in Taiwan and said Beijing will take all measures to crush such attempts.

In a statement, the foreign ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying urged Washington to play its positive role for peace and stability instead off to support Taiwan’s independent separatist forces.

“Taiwan belongs to China and the United States is in no position to make irresponsible remarks, the relevant remarks by the US side seriously violate the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communique and send an extremely wrong and irresponsible signal”, state-run Xinhua News Agency quoted Hua as saying.

Her remarks came after the US state department statement on Monday announced its support to Taiwan against Beijing.

“We strongly urge Beijing to cease its military, diplomatic, and economic pressure and coercion against Taiwan. Our commitment to Taiwan is rock solid”, state department spokesman Ned Price told reporters in response to a question regarding the Chinese warplane entered Taiwan airspace.

“Look, when it comes to what we’re seeing, we’re not going to speculate on motivations. We will just reiterate that our commitment to Taiwan is rock solid, and over the years it has certainly contributed to the maintenance of peace and stability across the strait and within the broader region”, he added.

On Monday China for the third time in just four days, again broke its record in the number of aircraft dispatched for drills near the island of Taiwan in a single day, sending a whopping 56 warplanes consisting mainly of fighters and bombers, a day after the US voiced “concern” over the Chinese mainland’s military activity near the island, claiming it was provocative, according to official media.

The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson strongly reacted to Price’s remarks and said the one-China principle is the political foundation of China-US relations.

“The United States should abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the China-US joint communique rather than something cooked up by itself unilaterally”, Hua said.

“Taiwan independence” leads nowhere, she said, adding that China will take all necessary measures to resolutely crush all attempts at “Taiwan independence” and China has the firm resolve and will to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“The United States should correct its mistakes, earnestly abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communique, prudently and properly handle Taiwan-related issues, stop supporting and emboldening separatist forces of ‘Taiwan independence, and take concrete actions to safeguard rather than undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” Hua said.

She also showed concern over the US moves by selling arms to Taiwan and strengthening official and military ties with them.
“Launching of a ‘750 million US dollars arms sale plan’ to Taiwan – the landing of US military aircraft in Taiwan and frequent sailing of US warships across the Taiwan Strait. These provocative moves undermine China-US relations and regional peace and stability”, Hua concluded.
