ISLAMABAD, September 14 (Xinhua): The Indonesian government on Tuesday announced $3 million in aid as humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan.

In a statement, issued from foreign ministry, Indonesian Foreign Minister of Indonesia Retno Marsudi said his country  is committed to providing aid amounting to 3 million dollars to assist the Afghan people. “The funds will be channeled via local trusted partners,” the minister said.

Marsudi elaborated the 3 million U.S. dollar and continued that in the next three years 2.85 million dollars would be used in Afghanistan’s development sector and on a first-hand the quarters of health, education, women’s empowerment and mining would be targeted on priority.

Meanwhile, for humanitarian assistance in emergency situations the remaining 150,000 dollars would be reserved. “The safety and livelihood of the Afghan people are our top priorities,” the foreign minister stressed.

A top-level meeting on the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan was staged virtually by the United Nations on Monday to appeal for humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan.
