KABUL: Oct 12 (Asia Free Press): Afghan Taliban government forces arrested five Daesh/ISIS terrorists in eastern Afghanistan, state-run media said on Tuesday.
“During a special operation of the security forces, five members of Daesh group were captured from Ahmad Abad district Paktia province on Sunday night,” Bakhtar News Agency quoted a provincial official, Khaleqyar Ahmadzai as saying.
He added that all the five arrested men have admitted to their affiliation with the terrorist group Daesh/ISIS outfit.
The arrest is taking place in the wake of series of bomb blasts in the eastern Nangarhar province, Kabul, and northern Kunduz province over the past couple of weeks and killing scores of people for which the hardliner Islamic State group has claimed responsibility.
Earlier this month Taliban claimed that they had destroyed an ISIS cell in the Aghan Capital in response to a mosque attack that killed five people, suspected to be done by Daesh.
Afghan Taliban forces have already launched an operation against the Daesh terrorist group in the country’s eastern provinces that leading by the country’s interior minister Sirajuddin Haqqani.
According to the Taliban, over 100 Daesh terrorists have been killed by Taliban forces during the last one month.
The government has also launched a search operation in Kunduz and surrounding areas following last Friday’s bombing, in which Daesh and over 100 other wounded killed nearly 50 worshipers.
