KABUL (BNA): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) in Afghanistan has announced that Australia has donated five million US dollars to aid humanitarian efforts in the country.

In light of the upcoming winter and the need to support vulnerable families in Afghanistan, OCHA has appealed to the international community for approximately a billion dollars in assistance.

According to a statement from OCHA, the Australian government has contributed 8 million Australian dollars, which is equivalent to 5,115,875 US dollars, to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

OCHA also highlighted that since the inception of the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, Australia has made contributions totaling 69 million Australian dollars.
