ISLAMABAD, Oct 8, (Asia Free Press): Pakistan on Friday has reported less than 1,000 new coronavirus cases for the first time since July, according to the official data.
During the last 24 hours, the country recorded 912 cases, bringing the total number of cases to over 1.2 million, the health ministry data showed.
On July 5, Pakistan reported 830 cases that later slowly increased 5,661 on August 4 after the country hit by the Indian Delta variant.
Pakistan also reported 26 more fatalities during last 24 hours that bringing the death toll to 28,058.
Meanwhile, the authorities have decided to reopen normal classes in education institutions across the country from Oct. 11.
“Based on the reduced level of disease spread and the launch of the school vaccination program, it has been decided in today’s NCOC meeting to allow all educational institutions to start normal classes from Monday the 11th of October,” Asad Umar, federal minister and incharge of COVID-19 response tweeted.
Pakistan has already announced to vaccinate of its citizens aged 12 year and older and so far the country administered over 89 million people and over 32 million have fully vaccinated.
